As a martial arts community we are concerned about the health and well-being of all our members and visitors. All Prairie Aikikai instructors and staff have been fully vaccinated and boosted for Covid-19. Therefore, we strongly encourage all dojo members and visitors to likewise get fully vaccinated as soon as possible. Individuals not yet fully vaccinated are required to wear a tight fitting, nose-and-mouth covering face mask while indoors at the dojo. All members and visitors must also wash (or sanitize with alcohol-based sanitizer) their hands upon first entering the dojo. If you are not feeling well, or are running a fever, you should refrain from visiting the dojo until you are feeling better.

The Prairie Aikikai is an organization dedicated to the study and practice of the martial art of Aikido. We are located in Sycamore, Illinois. Jeffrey B. Hecht, Godan, is the Head Instructor and Leslie B. Hecht, Yondan, is the Assistant Instructor.

Our dojo (school) is a relaxed environment, comfortable to both new and old students. Here are some of the benefits our students enjoy:

Regularly scheduled practices several times each week

Special seminars with guest instructors

Open practices for guests and visitors

It is extremely difficult to learn the art of Aikido using individualized instruction. It is also very easy to get lost or overlooked when you are part of a very large group. At the Prairie Aikikai dojo we only offer small group instruction in the martial art of Aikido, allowing students to get plenty of regular, one-on-one attention from the instructor(s). Class sizes are typically around 6 to 10 students, a friendly environment that allows for easy learning!

The Prairie Aikikai is a proud member of Aikido Shimbokukai (Lisa Tomoleoni, Director). Aikido Shimbokukai is an Officially Recognized Organization by the Aikido World Headquarters (Hombu Dojo) and the Aikikai Foundation in Tokyo, Japan
